This interactive session tackles the complexities of modifier 25 through a high-energy, game-style format — Deal or No Deal! Participants will analyze real-world office medical records to determine whether appending modifier 25 to an E/M service for separate payment is appropriate. Attendees will also learn about the compliance risks of improper use of modifier 25, including recent audit findings, payer policies, and documentation pitfalls that can trigger scrutiny from Medicare and commercial insurers. Attendees will gain insight into what auditors look for, how to substantiate medical necessity, and strategies to prevent compliance missteps.
